Engagement/Hook  Warm Up- Students will complete a warm up based on the

vocabulary that was reviewed last class period in order to
refresh their brains about what was learned last class.

Exploration  La palabra correcta- As a class, we will do the first two

together and then students will try to find the best word
from their vocabulary list that fits into the sentence. Once it
looks like most students have finished, I will invite students
to write the correct answers on the board.

Explanation  Vocabulary Slides- as a class we will go over the powerpoint

with all the vocabulary words and repeat all the words so
students get comfortable saying the words and recognizing
what the word means in Spanish.

Ser vs. Estar Review- As a class, we will review saying the
different forms of Ser and Estar while they are presented on
the screen. We will also go over the acronym and give
examples of what that might mean.
Extension  Kahoot- students will play a Kahoot game that will review the
vocabulary words they learned last class. The Kahoot will
focus on the meaning of the word as well as how to use the
word in context.

Sofia Vergara Reading & Questions- students will work to
improve their reading skills and their understanding of when
to use ser. The reading focuses on using the verb ser to
describe Sofia Vergara. Students will read through it once as
a class then work on writing down words that seem to be
cognates. Afterwards, as a class, we will read through it again
stopping to ensure that the meaning is understood. Students
will then work as a group to answer the questions about the
reading.

Family Feud- students will compete against each other to
guess correctly what the definition of the Spanish word. This
activity will help students practice the vocabulary words.

Evaluation  Ser vs. Estar with Vocabulary- students will work on
deciding between ser and estar using the vocabulary and
acronym. These steps are laid out for the students so that
they practice using them when they are not there. These
steps will help students practice deciding between ser and
estar and not skip over important steps. For those that
already speak Spanish, this will help explain to them why you
use ser and why you use estar.

● Students are able to have as much or as little time as they want to work on all
