CATHOLIC REFLECTIONS ON DISCERNING THE TRUTH OF SACRED SCRIPTURE

The Council of Trent declared that there the Church has no separate sources of revelation

rather the only revelation that the Church possesses is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, coming from

his mouth which has passed on from one generation to the next. This Gospel which the Lord

has proclaimed has been handed down through written and unwritten traditions, together

forming a two-fold sources of revelations. Regarding traditions which has not been written but

preserved by the early Christians. But tradition does not grow and go idle but as time pass by it

grows and develops like seeds as they grow to huge trees or like a boy as he grows to manhood.

Tradition is not trapped in the past rather it flourishes through time without compromising the

teaching and doctrines of the Holy Church.
