LaaN Theory (Learning as a network)
The competitiveness and efficiency directly and indirectly demanded by globalization,
makes the members of society assume the commitment to continue learning throughout
life. In our case, as professionals of education, the requirement is doubled, since in
addition to being competitive, we must generate strategies so that we, as well as our
students, develop new skills and competences that allow us to aspire to a better future.
One of the ways to achieve this, is through the use of learning in red or learning
networks, which is defined as the online social learning networks, which help
participants to develop the skills of their users, collaborating and sharing information
(Sloep and Berlanga, 2011). All this in a reliable, respectful and cordial environment.
CHARACTERISTICS OF LEARNING AS A NETWORK:
Exchange experiences and knowledge with other members or users of the
network (teachers, students, psychologists, biologists, geographers, etc).
Work on collaborative projects such as: research, educational innovations, etc.
Create working groups, communities, debates and / or congresses.
Offer and receive support from other members of the network through
comments, opinions, doubts, observations, which enrich the knowledge on a
certain topic.
Evaluate themselves and others.
Facilitate the search of resources (complete courses, videos, blogs, apps,
interactive, infographics, etc., that contributes to enhance the benefits that this
network makes possible)
BRAINLY
One example of social learning networks is Brainly. Brainly is a question and answer
platform for students who need help with their homework. Users can upload questions
to the community and receive help in a few minutes from other students. The users can
make comments to the questions and answers and collaborate to solve doubts. All
questions are organized by themes depending on the country and educational level.
