Our College of Education is


involved and invested in the
challenges and opportunities of
urban education on multiple
fronts. From analyses of
educational policies and
research on teaching and
learning - to redefining
professional preparation. Our
college has advanced our Urban
Education Agenda through the
implementation of a PIPELINE of
initiatives.
Reduce the financial barriers for DPS
students pursuing teacher preparation at
MSU.

2004...The Broad
Partnership
Secured $6.5 million grant from
The Broad Foundation to establish
a set of pipeline programs
intended to....
Increase the diversity composition,
particularly from Detroit Public Schools
(DPS), of our Teacher Preparation
Program students.
Provide DPS, and other urban school
districts, with highly trained urban
context educators.

In past 4 years...an average of 45% of
those who enrolled at MSU pursued an
EDUCATION MAJOR.

Since 2004...provided pre-college support
to over 500 students.
In past 4 years...over 90% of program
participants report post-secondary
education attendance.
In past 4 years...an average of 78% for
seniors APPLIED for admission to MSU.
In past 4 years...an average of 91% of
applicants were ADMITTED to MSU.
In past 4 years...an average of 73% of
those admitted were ENROLLED at MSU.
