Top Ten Eminem Songs

Marshall Bruce Mathers III better known as Eminem is hands down one of the greatest rappers
of all time. Depending on who you ask, it might be said that he's the greatest rapper still walking
this Earth. (Legends such as Tupac Shakur, Big L, and The Notorious B.I.G are unfortunately all
6 feet under.) Eminem currently has 5 studio albums out with a 6th one expected later this year.
Due to the great amount of material he has released, it was a great challenge for me to choose his
top ten greatest songs yet here it goes.

10. Till I Collapse (The Eminem Show) Sampling the stamp-stamp-clap-pause of Queen's
beloved song We Will Rock You, this is one of Eminem's more inspirational tunes, and is perfect
for hitting the gym with.

9. Insane (Relapse) This song off his latest album Relapse showed more life than any other one
on the album. Em' absolutely nailed the second verse on this, and although the song is about
abusive incest, it is a fun track which you cannot help but bob your head to.

8. The Way I Am (The Marshall Mathers LP) This is one of Em's rawer tracks, and is a complete
lash-out on everyone from critics to record producers to overzealous fans. This stands as fans'
first encounter with the angry side of Eminem, as opposed to the sarcastic, potty mouth they
were introduced to.

7. Marshall Mathers (The Marshall Mathers LP) In this song, Em' raps about how he has had
trouble remembering his true self following his sudden rise to fame. It also serves as a diss track
to Insane Clown Posse, a rap group which he at one time feuded with.

6. Still Don't Give a F* (The Slim Shady LP) This is one of several tracks where Eminem's
verbal competency absolutely shines. In this, he really brings down the house and everything
about the song fuses together perfectly.

5. Criminal (The Marshall Mathers LP) This song is one of his more raged tracks as he raps
about killing everything from homosexuals, puppies, to his longtime friend and producer Dr.
Dre. Classic angry Eminem and its flow is one of his all time best.

4. Rock Bottom (The Slim Shady LP) One of his earlier songs, this track true to its title was
made during a time when Em' was at the low point of his life. Before his well deserved rise to
fame, Marshall a high school dropout was faced with the responsibility of raising a child on
minimum wage. Putting all of his frustration and self-pity into this song, he created an often
overlooked gem.

3. Lose Yourself (8 Mile Soundtrack) While not his best song; it is certainly his best known one,
and will probably outlive him in terms of popularity. Written for his movie 8 Mile, this song is
all about the importance of seizing opportunity, and not conceding to pressure. Lose Yourself
also earned Eminem an Academy Award for the category of Best Original Song.
2. Kill You (The Marshall Mathers LP) This song much like Insane, shows off Eminem's ability
to rap about things brutally morbid, yet still give off a clear sense of whimsicalness. While
violently slaughtering helpless woman is probably something you don't agree with, it's very to
not sing along to this song which glorifies it again and again.

1. Stan (The Marshall Mathers LP) I spent a great deal of time thinking which song should be put
in this number one spot. After doing so I realized that there is no other song Eminem ever laid
down rhymes to with as much raw power as this ominous track did off his magnum opus The
Marshall Mathers LP. Armed with a simple bass accompaniment and a sampling of the Dido
song Thank You, Em' tells the tragic tale of an unstable fan named Stan who fed up with writing
letters to Eminem without reply, kills both himself and his pregnant girlfriend by driving off a
bridge. After listening to this song about 100+ times I still get the chills every time I hear it. This
is Eminem at his storytelling peak.
