The course is designed to enhance high advanced level student
s English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Stu
dents will listen to and read a variety of authentic selections,

including news, documentary, science and topical issues. In acco

nd reading practice, deliver speeches, hold debates as well as p
anel discussions, and write well-organized speeches, mini resear
ched academic essays with proper documentation, and extemporaneo
us writing of 350~500 words including responses to audio and vid
eo materials, and other application as summaries, minutes of mee
tings, and proposals. Types of texts may include a mixture of ge
nres such as exposition, recount, description and classificatio
n, cause and effect, compare and contrast.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Punctuality
a. Be in class on time. No extension of time in quiz will b
e given to late students.
b. No late assignments will be accepted without just cause.
2. Tasks, assignments, and quiz.
a. Group/Pair presentation should be completed as schedule
d. No postponement will be accepted for personal reasons.
b. Pop quiz will be given for preparation and review purpos
es and no announcement will be made in advance.
c. No make-up quiz, tests, presentation will be given.
3. Leave of any kind should be informed to the teacher by p
hone, email, by classmates before or on the day of absence. The
teacher has the right to reserve approval.

ATTENDANCE POLICIES:

c. The student who has reached 15 hours of absence or above for
any reasons risks failing this course.
d. Cell phones must be turned off or remain mute in class.

ASSIGNMENT FORMAT:
All turned-in assignments must be typed and double- spaced.
Use font Times New Roman size 12. (An acceptable alternative
is font Arial size 12.)
Leave 1 inch (2.5 cm) of margins on four sides.
