 REFLECTION AND SELF EVALUATION

MDD Standard

The teacher candidate identifies the main things learned in this practicum and
ways in which this learning has informed their professional development
needs, reflecting on the meaning, values, and purposes that will orient his or
her professional life.

1. Reflect on the main things you have learned about teaching and how
these relate to your understanding of the profession and the values that
guide your work.

The first thing to take into consideration is that every student is different and their
learning process is also different. Besides, I realized that social, economic and
personal aspects influence directly in the behavior of the student. Therefore, it is a
very important to have a plan B for unexpected situations that may occur, such as
students who are not participating in class, students who arrive late or even an
unexpected blackout

In second place, the time management is one of the most common problems that
we should consider in order to develop the class. For that reason, it is necessary to
make effective plannings consider the amount of time per activity which is one of the
most influential elements, but we must not forget about or lost the attention in the
level of English and the context.

In third place, I realized that planning the lessons, create activities and prepare
material are very important since I can follow a sequence during the class and I can
prevent future problems that may occur. In addition, we as teachers must be
organized, responsible, because we cannot improvise our lesson, the student notice
when a teacher did not prepare a class.

Finally, we as future teachers not only should be aware of the aspect mentioned
before but also it is important to encourage and motivate our student to produce the
language and provide as much positive feedback as we can.

2. Describe one or two areas of professional growth (e.g. instructional

strategies, content knowledge).

The area of professional growth that I improved during my teaching experience was
the instructional strategies because my guide teacher constantly provided comment
of my lessons and she gave me tips about how I can management bigger classes in
the future.
