The 5 Senses: Smelling

Objective

that allow them to seek, find, take in, and react or respond to information in
order to learn about their surroundings.
Show children the book Smelling and ask what the child on the cover is
doing.
Hook

-Smelling a flower
Ask them what they use to smell something.

Learning Plan, Activities

We Do
Smelling Jars Activity. As you let students smell what is in each jar, ask
them what they smell and if it is a good or bad smell.

They Do
Cut and Paste the things that we can smell onto the nose.

Students should be able to identify and describe what it means to smell.


Criteria for

Assessment

They should be able to match the sensing organ, nose, with the sense, smell.
Success/

They should be able to math sensory descriptors with the sense smell: strong, faint,
bad, and good.
