Describe the community service/professional activity/s you attended or participated with (be

specific about the purpose and your role): I completed a neonatal resuscitation program. I

attended this because I will be in the NICU, and it is very useful for me to have already been

exposed to this information before I am a nurse in the NICU.

Where was this held and what was the program/activity length? I was held by CPR2U at the

Northwest Medical Centers Womens Center, in a class room in a closed wing of their mother

baby unit. I completed work before the class and then there was a classroom portion. I had to

study, take two 25 question exams, do a practice digital resuscitation, and then two resuscitation

simulations. The preclassroom work took 5 hours, and the classroom/skills portion took 3.5

hours. My card is issued by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Discuss the value of this experience to you (be specific).

This was a very valuable activity to me, because I got to get formal education on NRP, and I will

need to be proficient in this skill in the immediate future, and it was useful to begin to learn now,

and not whenever I finally get hired onto a NICU.

Would you recommend this specific communnity/professional experience in the future; why or

why not? (Describe): It was expensive, I think I paid over $160, but I found it very valuable. I

can use the knowledge I gained, as well as use it on my resume and in interviews to help me get

into the NICU as a new graduate.
