Reflective Exercise # 2

1. What did you learn from today’s clinical duty? List your key takeaways.
 I was able to calculate the IV flow rate much faster than before.
 I learned how to calculate drug dosage, which was previously difficult for me to grasp.
 I was able to recall how to interpret ABG and improve my ABG interpretation pace.

2. How was your orientation today? Describe how did it make you feel or any realizations you
encountered.

It was difficult for me at first to solve IV flow rates, doses, and interpret ABG, but with the
support of our head nurse and clinical instructor, things became easier for me as the lectures
progressed. They did an excellent job of explaining the topic while enjoying each other's
company. I realized that learning how to solve IV flow rates, dosages, and interpret ABG was
insufficient; I needed to be quick and precise, especially if I was assigned to the ICU.

3. What are your impressions or recommendations to your head nurse so he could further
improve the entire related learning experience in ICU?

I don't have any suggestions, but I was really impressed by how thoroughly the head nurse
explained the lesson and made sure we understood everything before moving on to the next
one.

4. What are the things that you, as a student nurse, will do for the rest of the night which you think
will help you be a better nurse in the future?

I'm going to go over the previously taught lessons again. By doing so, the lessons will begin to
take root in my brain, making it more likely that I'll remember them. Studying the lesson several
times during the day will help me recall every detail, which will be incredibly helpful when I soon
become a registered nurse.

5. What are your expectations for tomorrow’s clinical duty?

I'm hoping that tomorrow's lesson will be as fruitful and enjoyable as today's. Because I have
no prior experience in an ICU, I anticipate to learn more and expand my knowledge of the tasks
that must be completed.
