Dear Mr.

Campbell,
I am excited to be in your writing class this semester. I am ready to work my hardest
and do all that it takes to end the semester with a superb grade in the class. Allow
me to explain a little bit about myself.
I am one of four children in my family. I have two sisters and one brother. My two
sisters, Amber and Kenna, are both older than me. Amber is 27 years old and Kenna is
20. My younger brother Zachary, on the other hand, is 17.
Im an 18-year-old, freshman, engineering, student here at UNCC, living in the
Freshman Learning Community. The type of engineering I am taking is currently
labeled Undecided. However, I have made a decision on what type of engineering I
am going to study; that would be Mechanical Engineering. The Mechanical tier of the
College of Engineering is currently filled to capacity, therefor I am required to wait
until the end of my first semester to alter my course.
Before my enrolment to UNCC, I was involved in many extracurricular activities, and
clubs: Boy Scouts, Tae Kwon Do, and FTC Robotics.
I entered Boy Scout troop 77 located in Asheville, NC at the age of 10. At this time
last year (7 years later), I completed all of the necessary requirements to earn my
Eagle Scout rank. Being a part of the Boy Scouts taught me to live by the Scout Oath,
and Law in my everyday life.
I started Tae Kwon Do at Asheville Sun Soo in the beginning of eighth grade. My
instructor, Master Mooris, is a 7th Degree Black Belt, and the best instructor I know in
Martial Arts. Without his guidance, I would not have been able to achieve the rank of
Black Belt Recommended before I left for college. Attending this Tae Kwon Do school
has taught me how to properly defend myself in precarious situations, and to live by
these five tenants: self-control, indominable spirit, curtesy, integrity, and
perseverance.
I began competing with FIRST Robotics at the beginning of my senior year of high
school. My team is a FTC Robotics team located in the Dogwood building of Asheville
Buncombe Technical Community College. My specialties on the team were Computer
Aided Design (CAD), and Mechanical Engineering. Our team performed well enough to
enter the world championship, but due to AP tests, I was unable to travel to Houston,
Texas with the rest of the team.
Thank you for being my Writing professor this semester, and I look forward to getting
to know you better.
Sincerely,
Kendall Jackson
