resolution)
Conflict: character vs character/self/nature/society
Characterization: direct/indirect (implicit/explicit), protagonist/antagonist
Setting: time and place
Theme: topics and statements - how to write them.
Point-of-View: 1st, 2nd, 3rd Person (omniscient, limited, objective) point-of-view

Literary Terms/Devices

Atmosphere: a story's general feeling


Irony dramatic, situational, verbal
Figurative language: personification, hyperbole, understatement, metaphor,
simile

Literary Response:
o Thesis Statement: name drop (genre, authors name title), direct answer to
the prompt
o Lead-in: Background information/argument
o Evidence: Quotation insertion and proper citation
o Analysis: Explain, connect, discuss the why, conclusion
o Conclusion: restate the thesis statement
