Case Study One Analysis
Case Study One Analysis
1. Situational Analysis
a. Goods (what can be achieved? What is at stake?): Davids reputation, the cabin , Nancys
contentment/happiness, childrens water sports training, social responsibility
b. Stakeholders (Who is involved?): David Trapp, Nancy Trapp, Darcy and Ben, Al, The environment,
Nathan Ferguson (pastor), congregation indirect stakeholders , Nancys clients (work and
volunteer commitments), memory of uncle
c. Relevant Facts: he is an advocate for environmental rights, he and his wife are busy people, David
received an inheritance of land, and he could build a cabin on it. Building the cabin would produce
jobs for workers but would harm the environment, he wants to have time with his kids, distance,
pastors
d. Missing information: personality of Davids family, how important the property is to his family,
how long do they work? Ecological impacts that building the cabin would have
2. Choose a perspective (How does it work? How does it fit?)
a. Character: Does building a cabin make David a better person? (father, husband, social role
responsibility)
b. Consequences: How will it affect his family/environment? How would it affect his conscience?
How would it affect the memory of his uncle?
3. Ethical Analysis (applying the method to the case) opinion
4. Judgement opinion
