introduction
Taoism is also known as daoism. Taoism is a chinese
Religious belief. The taoism religion is based on the tao te ching
Philosophy.tao te ching is written by a philosophical thinker Laozi. Tao te
ching or dao de jing is refered to the chinese word tao.
In chinese tao thet means before heaven and earth. In chinese dao
Means way or path, so daoism means the way of life. The tao express the
path of human being to join the unity of the universe. The taoist focus on
understanding the ordering life morally, practicing rulership, the nature of
reality, regulating conciousness and diet, and increasing their longevity.
The observations of nature frofoundly influenced the earty taoist philosophy.
The taoist philodophers belief thet everything has its opposite. Sun and moon,
day and night, hot and cold. Taoism was not a religion at first until the 142
century where the Celestial Masters sect was founded by Zhang Doaling who
is based on spiritual communication from the idolized Laozi

The lantern festival
the lantern festival is celebrated by the taoist every first full moon. he lantern
festival is also celebrated when one of the taoist god Tianguan had a
birthday, Tianguan is the taoist god who is responsible for good fortune.
In the lantern festival people carried lighted lantern while walking and later
they are goint to realeased the lantern in some various public places.
During the lantern festival, people eat Tangyuan which is a type of sweet
dumpling as a tradition of the lantern festival
Duanwu jie- dragon boat festival
The dragon boat festival is celebrated honor a man named Qu Yuan. Qu
Yuan is a poet and statesman. The dragon boat festival was originated in
Zhou Dynasty. On the fifth day of the fifth month in 278 BC, Qu Yuan decided
to do a suicide by jumping into the melow river. Knowing about the Qu Yuan
suicide, the local fisher man threw rice balls ( zong zi) into the water so that
the fish will eat the rice ball not Qu Yuans body. Since then people celebrate
the dragon boat festival to honor the anniversary of Qu Yuan death, as a
tradition people had a drogun boat race and also eating zong zi (rice balls ).
Before Qu Yuan did a suicide his last poem was :
Many a heavy sigh I have in my despair,
Grieving that I was born in such an unlucky time.
I yoked a team of jade dragons to a phoenix chariot,
And waited for the wind to come,
To soar up on my journey

The Mid Autumn Festival Zhongqiu Jie


The mid autumn festival first started in the Shang Dynasty. This festival is also a
chinese holiday an taoist festival taht is celebrated in 15th day of the eight
lunar moon aroun the time of autumn. The festival is held when the moon is in
its fullest and brigthest visual at a time of the year. Families gather and eat
moon cakes to appreciate the beauty of the autumn moon. There are some
other names of zhongqiu jie which are: Moon Festival; Mooncake Festival;
Lantern Festival; Fifteenth Of The Eighth Moon; and Festival Of Reunion.
In the mid autumn farmers celebrate the end of harvesting season.
Rituals in the mid autumn festival:
- Creating an altar that are set open air facing the moon, beauty aids
like, lotion; bath salt; and make up are placed on the altar for her to
bless
- Carrying bright lighted lanterns
- Performing the fire dragon dances
- Planting trees
- Collecting dandellion leaves
- Putting pomelo rinds on ones head
- Enjoying a family reunion dinner
