Elizabeth Bianchi is the principal at John B. Dey Elementary School.

School History
John B. Dey was opened in the fall of 1956 and held grades 5-7. This was done to help
out Little Creek Elementary because they were overcrowded. In 1957, the school
became a complete elementary, holding grades 1-7. In 1960 ten more rooms were
added and in 1995 seven more were added. The school is named after Mr. John B. Dey
who was a farmer in the community. He also was the chairperson of the school board,
a member of the Princess Anne Board of Supervisors, the House of Delegates, and the
Norfolk City Council.

Awards and other claims to fame
The Virginia Beach PTA Exemplary Award was awarded to the John B. Dey PTA for
2016-2017. They also with ten other schools were awarded the Governor Terry
McAuliffe and the State Board of Education's Virginia Index of Performance (VIP)
award. John B. Dey was awarded the 2017 Board of Education Excellence Award.
