OBJECTIVE:

The objective of this assignment is analyse contemporary problems in organisations and to

propose appropriate information systems to overcome these problems. The purpose of this
assignment is also to expose you to the various forms of organisational information systems.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Select a well known organisation which is currently facing problems or would like to
improve its performance. You have been appointed as an IT consultant to propose a
solution to overcome these problems or help improve its current performance in the
selected organisation. For example, Company X is facing a procurement based problem and
sales problems. As an IT consultant you may propose an e-procurement system (to
overcome procurement issues) and an e-commerce web site (to improve sales). You are
advised to select problems which can be resolved using information systems solution.

TASK

1.) Select a well known organisation and provide a description of the organisation.
(10%)
2.) General literature writes up on the evolution of Information Systems. (20%)
3.) Identify and discuss key problems faced by the selected organisation. You are
expected to analyse the problem and discuss the impact of the problem on the
organisation. (30%)
4.) Suggest THREE (3) types of information system which can aid the selected
organisation. The solution should relate to the issues stated in task 3. (30%)
5.) Conclusion (10%)

Assignment Format:
a. Use double space and 12-point of Times New Roman font.
b. The assignment should contain about 4000 – 5000 words (15 – 20 pages)
c. Provide reference using the American Psychological Association (APA) format
d. References should be latest (year 2011 onwards)
