You are given 3 different scenarios. Based on what you have learned in class thus far (MID1
syllabus/ Chapter 1, 2, & 4), write a unified and clear essay for each scenario in response to the
questions raised by the respective situation (not more than 800 words each). You are expected
to consult outside sources, that is, to go beyond what has been presented in class. The essay or
report should follow the following structure-

1. Problem analysis and interpretation·

*Points will be given for each interpretation you make, but it must be linked to the
problems.

2. Potential solutions with justification·

*Interpret all possible solutions and choose the best alternative (justify your choice)
regarding the given scenario.

3. Concluding statement·
*A concluding remark/ statement of your given recommendation.

4. Appendix/ Reference (APA format, if any)

business consultant and analyze those scenarios.
*When you take facts, thoughts, ideas, viewpoints and short or long quotations from others

Scenario 1:
Wayfair, an e-commerce company specialized in furniture and home-goods provides an open
marketplace where more than 10,000 global suppliers sell millions of products directly to digital
customers. To support its digital activities, Wayfair has developed offices and warehouses
throughout the United States, and it has also expanded its operations abroad in Canada,
Germany, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. Now, the company is thinking to expand its
operations inside Asian countries, one of which is Bangladesh. You are asked to conduct a
thorough analysis of the online marketplace and recommend what sort of online business model
the company should follow in its next destination. In addition, assess the proposed business
model by identifying different key elements.

Scenario 2:
Choose a Bangladeshi e-commerce company (examples- Bikroy, Foodpanda, Daraz, Chaldal)
and assess it in terms of the eight unique features of e-commerce technology. Which of the
features does the company implement well, and which features poorly, in your opinion? Prepare
a report to the president of the company you have chosen detailing your findings and any
suggestions for improvement you may have. Also, analyze the company's business model and
revenue model. Provide recommendations or changes that the company can pursue to improve
its’ e-commerce platform.

Scenario 3
You are asked to choose a Website/ Web App/ Mobile App from any e-service/ e-commerce
provider. Explore the chosen online platform and identify the strengths (Note: you may compare
the features with other similar Website) and weakness of that online platform (Note: mention
what features are missing and/or difficult in terms of usability compare to other similar Website).
Finally, suggest what should be done to improve the usability of that online platform (at least
three suggestions).

Hints:

ü Identify a user’s goals to use that particular Website.

ü Ask whether the user achieve his goals with the Web search.
ü How much effort is required from a user in order to achieve his goal/complete a task using
website?
ü Is the Website visually appealing?
ü Is it easy to move from one page to another?
ü Is the overall organization of the site easy to understand?
ü Is a user able to complete his task in a reasonable amount of time?
