In Bangladesh half of the population are women. Nowadays its population is 50% of the whole
population. For that our woman’s need to do more entrepreneurial activities as we are a
developing country. If we need to become a developed country or a nation in the whole world,
women need to come up to the business. As most people women are not active in entrepreneurial
activities. So, the first reason for the women to come up with entrepreneurial activities is for the
country. To take the country in the list of developed countries. Another reason for expanding
women’s entrepreneurial activities is so that they can live with high heads. So that they don’t
need to live upon anyone’s money. So that they can fulfil their own needs with their own money.
Another reason would be there is a lack of entrepreneurs in our country. If women’s activities
expand more, they can provide work for them and employ many other unemployed too as
unemployment is a very big problem in our country.
2. What are the main obstacles in Bangladesh for women to engage themselves more in
entrepreneurial activities?
3. Besides the Government and NGOs, can the private sector in Bangladesh engage
women and youth to contribute more to the economy? State your opinion logically
Yes, private sector in Bangladesh engages women and youth to contribute more to the economy.
If women are come up with great ideas provably many companies help them, if they gain trust
thus companies.
For example, one of these young women leaders is Anika, a technical diploma graduate from
Dhaka Mohila Polytechnic. She used her technical talents to create her own IT service firm after
finishing her degree. She now has loftier ambitions.
"I'd like to continue my education in the future," she says. "I want to improve my ability to
perform at a high level. I want to assist women in finding employment and moving on in their
careers. This is my objective." If she convinced high profile people, then she will be a good
women entrepreneur. Also, she can contribute more to the economy in future.
Despite these remarkable achievements, women continue to confront obstacles. Despite the fact
that female employment has increased throughout time, women are still less than half as likely as
males to be employed. Despite the fact that female entrepreneurship is on the rise, women still
account for only 7% of the country's approximately 7 million entrepreneurs, and women-led
firms remain tiny.
If women are showing their job beautifully then why should not privet sector invest on them? If I
give example, in our country we know now a days Event Management business became very
popular. And one of the most top-rated companies like “Sygmaz” and this company’s owner is a
woman. If they need investment, then privet sector should invest on them, for their profits. As a
result, women and youth contribute to our economy.
International Women's Day reminds us that while women in Bangladesh have come a long way,
gender equality and economic empowerment remain a long way off. Bangladeshi women will set
the pace and blaze the route in every sector in the next decade and beyond, I am certain, with
devoted and imaginative leadership.
4. Do you think micro and small entrepreneurship can eliminate poverty to a great
extent in rural areas? State your opinion logically.
Small and micro entrepreneurs help alleviate poverty in rural areas. At present, the number of
such entrepreneurs is much higher in rural areas. There are numerous small traders in almost
every rural area of the country. They are filling the gaps in the market through various
businesses and meeting the needs of the customers. People in rural areas are becoming
entrepreneurs and reducing unemployment. Now the literacy rate of Bangladesh is much
higher than before. As a result, many entrepreneurs are educated. All these entrepreneurs are
using technology to run their business. By being self-reliant in this way, they are staying
away from poverty.
People in rural areas are now connected to the whole of Bangladesh 24 hours a day. Through
information technology they can know everything where what is happening. At present, as a
result of information technology and development of the country, many business avenues
have been opened for the rural people. They are being used by the rural people in a great way
to alleviate their poverty. Small and micro traders are able to do various kinds of profitable
business with little capital. They get loans from different types of NGOs to do business.
Which plays a role in starting their business and taking business risks. Due to the lack of job
opportunities in Bangladesh, rural people are becoming small and medium entrepreneurs.
Thus, the rural economy is moving and the country's economy is getting more developed.
Rural children are more educated than before but there are not enough jobs in Bangladesh
compared to that. They are making themselves self-sufficient by doing various small and
micro businesses. Thus, the poverty rate of rural people has come down a lot. The young
entrepreneurs are helping the family as well as the economy of the country in a great way.
The distance with the cities in the rural areas of Bangladesh has reduced a lot.
Communication has greatly improved so that the products of various big companies can be
easily reached in the village and if entrepreneurs want to do business, it will be great in all
respects. So we can say that the poverty of the rural people is being reduced to a great extent
through small and medium entrepreneurs
5. How can family be a support system for women & youth to be an entrepreneur in
Bangladesh?
In Bangladesh there are many women and youth entrepreneur. We know Bangladesh is a
developing country. In our country women and youth don’t have enough freedom. They have
to maintain their family. Family is important part for every person. If their family supports
them, they can be inspired by their family. Without family support people cannot reach their
goal easily. Women's economic participation, as well as their ownership and control of
productive assets, speeds up development, reduce poverty, and improve children's nutrition,
health, and attendance at school. Compared to men, women are more likely to spend a larger
share of their income on their families and communities, thus returning funds to the local
community. If Bangladesh women want to be an entrepreneur, they must need family
support. Youth is the future of all nations and the heirs of tomorrow's world. If Bangladesh
has a healthy young population, the country will move forward in terms of development and
overall progress. Both women and youth need family inspiration to be an entrepreneur.
