Learning Outcomes [ASSURE (State Objectives)]
Within a given time period in an online quiz game ‘Kahoot’, students will revise all the required kitchen terms
for this unit, as indicated in national curriculum, which they will be also questioned in the exam.

Instructional Materials & Media [ASSURE (Select Strategies, Technology, Media and Materials)]
White board, projector, computer, (to perform the online quiz game), technology- integrated mini exams
(Kahoot questions), preparing students to feel like they are in the exam, putting them in a limited time.
Visual materials (pictures used in the online game).

Learning-Teaching Methods [ASSURE (Select Strategies, Technology, Media and Materials)]


Game is used as a learning-teaching method in this class. Cooperative and Communicative learning are
another method as they ask questions not answered, to one another and to their teacher after the game.
They can also do it all together by discussing the correct answers to the questions. This is a lesson in which
Task-Based Language Teaching as an online game is used as the material learning-teaching.
Teaching Activities [ASSURE (Utilize Technology, Media, and Materials and Require Learner Participation)]
Vocabulary activity as in the form of an online quiz, which are categorization and harmonization of the unit
terms. Recovering the unit elements through an online game is the main teaching method. By using visuals
as media in the quiz game, students that are stronger in visual learning can get the points better. Question-
answer section during the game or after the game provides students’ participation. They discuss and learn,
which means discussion is another learning method for the students through the online activity in the
class.

Individual Learning Activities Kahoot is optional, they can answer the questions
individually by using phones (if available, if not,
students still answer individually and orally in the
limited time).

Group Learning Activities Kahoot is optional, if students and teacher want, they
can answer the quiz all together by discussing or they
can form groups if they want.

Summary
Students play an online quiz game –Kahoot-. By this game, they are in a limited time so that this can be an
example of a real exam duration and this gives them an opportunity to quick-thinking. The aim of the game is
to provide students with categorization and harmonization skills (finding the relations and differences), by
brushing their brains up on the terms of the unit. Additionally, after the game, they can improve their
communication and cooperation skills in the section when they ask the questions they cannot answer in the
game.
Measurement & Evaluation
Analyzing the results of the game according to the percentage of given correct answers.

Measurement & Assessment Activities for If students take the online quiz individually, teacher can
Individual Performance see the results per student in the game, and according to
these results of theirs, separately, teacher can give
specific homework or give advice about how to study.

Measurement & Assessment Activities for If students take the online quiz all together or as groups,
Group Performance teacher can give feedback to them as group and give
homework to be done as groups. Additionally, as another
way of evaluation-measurement, teacher wants students
to comment on their own performance as groups while
students can also comment on other groups2
performance in the activity.

Explanation
According to the analysis of the game, teacher prepares other activities according to what students lack on
vocabulary part of the unit.
Explanation regarding to the implementation of the plan
In the lesson, students play an online game in the form of a similar quiz to the real one and they revise the
kitchen terms of the unit through this activity, improving their required skills for the game session and after-
game session. If the internet connection or the computer does not work, teacher asks the questions to
students by herself by drawing on the board or teacher can have the printed versions of the pictures in the
questions (egg, knife, milk so on.) and by showing them, he/she can tell to categorize or harmonize the items.
