BY making a "how to" manual about a familiar activity SO THAT I better understand parts of nonfiction writing Success Criteria for Today Understanding the purpose of a title page, and completing my own for my manual. Materials needed: computer paper, pencils, examples of Title Pages (attached)
Teacher Note: All days for this project can be shortened or lengthened depending on the needs of the students/time it takes for students to complete each part. The end goal is that they have a personalized, completed how-to manual.
1. Students should finish drafting their Table of Contents
2. Review what a Title Page is and what it is used for 3. Show examples of Title Pages (attached) 1. make sure students understand that a title page is very similar to the cover of their manual 2. point out that title pages include the publisher, but we will not include that as their manuals will not actually be published 4. Have students create a draft of their own Title Pages on a piece of computer paper 1. This is only a draft and will be revised and edited on a later day
