ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS:
- some students might need further help and extra indications in solving the tasks and they may
also need some of these indications to be given in Romanian;
-some students might feel nervous and reluctant to participate in the activity, so they may need
more encouragement.
Warm Up
Aim:
-to create a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere
Procedure: -T greets the Ss and ask about their mood. T checks homework.
Timing:5 min

Activity 1: Lead-in
Aim:
-to activate students’ interest on the lesson;
-to revise body parts
Procedure: T shows to S a set of flashcards with parts of the body. T asks S to recognize the
parts.
T announces the title and the objectives of the lesson
Timing: 3 min.

Activity 2: Presentation & Practice


Aim:
-to identify places and the problems
-to prepare students for the next stage of the lesson
Procedure: T asks S to look at the pictures from the book and answer to some questions:
‘Where are the people?’
‘Why are they there?’
T asks S to work in pairs. T allows S to ask and answer the questions. T tells S to change roles. T
checks S’ answers for each picture.
Answers: He is at the hospital. He broke his leg. She is at a health centre. She wants to keep fit.
He is at the dentist’s. He had toothache.

Timing:10 min
Interaction: T-S, S-T, pair work, role-play

Activity 3: Practice
Aim:
-to develop S’ listening skills
Procedure: T plays the tape . T asks S to listen to the pronunciation of key words describing the
pictures: ‘headache”, “stomach-ache” etc and say where the main stress is: on the part of the
body or on “ache”.
Tapescript: headache, stomach-ache, toothache, earache, backache.
Answer: The main stress is on the part of the body.
Timing:5 min
Interaction: T-S, S-T, individual work
Activity 4: Practice
Aim: - to practice speaking & listening skills
- to consolidate information
Procedure: T asks S to look at the sample dialogue in 2c. S work in pairs. This activity is
designed to generate practice with questions and answers about health. T chooses a couple to act
out the dialogue in front of the class. T helps S if necessary.
T asks S to work individually and to match each word to its definition. T checks the answers and
makes sure that S have found the right match.
Answers: a3, b1, c2, d4, e6, f5.
Timing: 13 min
Interaction: T-S, S-T, pair work, individual work

Activity 5: Production
Aim: - to consolidate information
Procedure: T asks S to copy the questions and to tick the right answers as they are listening to
the tape. Answers: 1b, 2c, 3c, 4a
Timing: 7 min
