REFLECTION PAPER

In today’s world, everything has evolved and modernized from being an ordinary
and plain planet to something marvelous that people are grateful of. Disaster readiness
and risk reduction is and should be applied in all aspects of our lives. Science exists in
almost everything in this world and so as disasters and natural phenomena. The videos
shown were all about the different branches of science and how people are involved in
improving and manifesting them. It is somewhat related to DRRR in a way that, people
are the ones who find solutions to problems and take them into action so as not to get
harmed. The videos also display the negative and positive effects of everything we do in
this world and that natural phenomenon is really inevitable.

The involvement of the ecosystems and especially the biotic and non-biotic
factors contribute a lot to the environment and its relation to DRRR. Poor environmental
management is one of the root causes of disaster risk. Some parts of the videos show
that people are really cautious with what they are doing and they look into every single
inference and creation on how it may affect the environment. Healthy ecosystems both
reduce vulnerability to hazards by supporting livelihoods, while acting as physical
buffers to reduce the impact of hazard events.

Technology innovation has always been present in this generation, and it’s slowly
becoming a necessity. Life is just way so much easier with technology and it helps us to
access, evaluate, integrate, create and communicate information to enhance the
learning process through problem-solving and critical thinking. And with the use of
media, we have access to interact with information. In the near future, things would
become extraordinary and that people’s minds are so complex that they are able to find
solutions to every problem. Technology is amazingly beneficial, but it also comes with
side effects. People should think smart and do smart and not let technologies control us
in the next generation.
