SUMMIT SCRIPT 2017

8:55 - 9:00

Nikki: Good morning Dover Grade 8’s. We are thrilled to introduce to you the YES2KNOW
SUMMIT. I am Ms. Webber.

Jayse: and I am Ms. Van Rooyen, and we have an unbelievable day planned for you.

Nikki: We are SOOO excited to be here! You all look so great in your new t-shirts. This day is
going to be amazing!

Jayse: Absolutely!!! So right now, you’ll notice that you have a folder and passport with all of
your convention materials in it.

Nikki: Make sure you keep it with you all day, and take a second to put your name on
everything!

Jayse: That’s right, Ms. Webber! Put your name on everything! We have some AMAZING
PRIZES to give away at the end of the day!

Nikki: Alright! We want to take a moment to acknowledge our sponsors! Let’s give a BIG round
of applause to the Nanaimo RCMP for putting on this amazing event for all of us today!

Jayse: And a big thank you to our signature sponsor, Coast Capital Savings! This day could not
happen without their support!

Nikki: And one more big round of applause for you, our students! This day is ALL ABOUT YOU!
Your listening, participation, and enthusiasm is what’s going to make Y2K a day to
remember!

Nikki: Alright everyone, to get started, let’s pull the green sheets out of our folders. Be sure to
put your name right at the top, grab your pen, and get ready to jot down a few notes!
Jayse: Our first speaker today, is the top-Brain Based Learning facilitator in British Columbia.
He has been a certified facilitator since 1997, receiving ongoing training from the Jensen
Learning Corporation, a world leader in teacher training in the new field of Applied Educational
Neuroscience

Nikki: Allright Grade 8s!!! Without further ado, allow me to introduce our keynote speaker, Mr.
Gary Anaka! Today, Mr. Anaka will be speaking to all of us about “Engaging the Teenage
Brain”!!!

Jayse: Let’s all give Gary a big Dover Bay round of applause!! Take it away, Gary!

Jayse: Wow! Thank you so much Gary. Let’s all give Gary one more round of applause!

Nikki: Aren’t our brains absolutely amazing?!

Jayse: You only ever get one, and it stays with you for life! (maybe add something Gary said)

Nikki: And today we are going to learn to take care of them in the Activity Flow Zone! Our
student teachers and community volunteers have worked around the clock to prepare some
unbelievable activities for you in the gym!

Jayse: Before you leave here, place your worksheet folders in your homeroom teacher’s box on
your way out of the multi-purpose room. But don’t forget to take your passport out of your folder
first, because you need to take your passport to gym.

Nikki: As you visit each of the activity zone stations, get your passport stamped. Once you
have at least FIVE stamps, go to the passport confirmation station and get entered into the prize
draws.

Jayse: Make sure you don’t lose your passport as it has your draw ticket. Try to visit all the
Activity Zone stations and have fun!
Nikki: After lunch, if your homeroom teacher is Tyce, Antifave, McWhinnie, King, or Williams,
then you will meet back here in the multipurpose room at 12 noon sharp!

Jayse: The other homeroom classes will go to specific rooms: Ms. Lebans’ class will head to
E104, Mr. Andrew’s homeroom will go to D212, Mr. Wei’s homeroom to E101, Ms. James’
homeroom to E213, and Ms. Nichol’s homeroom to D204!!!! And if you do forget where you
should be, the yellow schedule is posted outside the MPR.

Nikki: Alright Y2K students!!! We are almost ready to head to the gym! Please remember to
move quietly and respectfully through the school as classes are in session right now. Ok, let’s
show the rest of Dover Bay just how awesome Y2K 2017 is!!! Leeeeet’s gooooo!!!

10:20 - 11:10 in the GYM

There is no formal script for the Activity Flow Zone. We can announce how much time remains
and where to confirm passports. We should announce five minutes left for activities, too!

11:10: Lunch

Jayse: All right Dover Bay!! Let’s give our teachers, student teachers, our sponsors, and
everyone who worked SO HARD to put the Activity Flow Zone together a HUGE round of
applause! Thank you so much!!

Nikki: And it’s time for a free lunch! Let’s hear it for Dover Bay!! When you hear the bullhorn, it
will be time to head outside for the tasty hotdog Mr. Andrews has fired up for you.

Jayse: And when you have your hotdog, head on back to the gym! We’ve got all the fixings,
drinks, and cookies waiting back here for you!

Nikki: Remember, our afternoon starts at 12 noon either in a classroom or multipurpose room!
And the yellow schedule is posted outside the MPR if you forget where to go. Let’s go Y2K
2017!!!

Jayse Lets Go the Bullhorn of Destiny


12:05-12:45 back in the MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM

Jayse: Welcome back, Dover Bay!!!!!! How was your lunch??!!! We have an unbelievable
afternoon planned for you today! But first, be sure to take the pink sheet out of your folder and
put your name at the top!! You will want to grab a pen and be sure to take a few notes!!

Nikki: Our next guest has come to share his incredible message, “The Positive Rebel”!!!
He is an Inspirational and Motivational Speaker. His mission is to empower people with the
knowledge and the tools to stretch beyond their comfort zone and achieve their dreams. He
encourages and persuades his audience to rethink, what they may believe is impossible to
realizing anything is possible by being determined, persistent, and focus on the end result.

Jayse: Let’s hear it for Mr. Michael Bortolotto. Michael has shared amazing insight on what it
means to follow our dreams and always push ourselves to our highest potential. Thank you so
much to Michael for coming here today.

12:45-12:55 Introduction of Red Cross Youth Facilitators and Presentation

Nikki: We are now introducing to you the Dover Bay, Red Cross Youth Facilitators. Let’s give
them a round of applause and enjoy their short presentation on Social Belonging.

Jayse: Thank you so much to this fantastic group of people for sharing their knowledge on
Social Belonging.

Nikki: Alright everyone we are almost ready to head to our breakout sessions. But before we do
that, we will give you your room assignments again. Please remember to be very quiet in the
hallways. We have other classes going on. Here are the following room assignments for your
homeroom. In room Mr.King’s class will go to E105, Ms. Tyce’s class will go to D212, Mrs.
Antifave’s class will be in room E101, Mrs. McWhinnie’s class will make their way to D204 and
Mr. Williams class will be in D213.

Jayse: WELCOME BACK EVERYONE. We are so excited to for you to join us. We are glad to
have you all back and introduce to you some amazing speakers we have this afternoon.

Nikki: We are now introducing to you the Red Cross Youth Facilitators. Let’s give them a round
of applause and enjoy their presentation on Social Belonging.

Jayse: Michael has shared amazing insight on what it means to follow our dreams and always
push ourselves to our highest potential. His message: There are no limitations to the mind
except those we accept! Let’s give a huge Dover Bay thank you one more time and give him a
round of applause.

Nikki: As all of the other grade 8 students file into the room, let’s get prepared for our final
amazing guest speaker and pull out the blue sheet of paper from your folder.

Jayse: If you haven’t already done so, please get out the blue piece of paper for the next
presentation. Our next speaker, is an international public speaker who has addressed
thousands of participants presenting and consulting to schools and companies since 2007.
Using behaviour changing presentation techniques, Jesse has an unmatched ability to motivate
his audience to evaluate their online profiles and how to assess privacy and connectivity issues.
Nikki: As an awareness & safety innovator, Jesse combines a diverse background in
community policing, volunteer management and online behaviour analysis to develop unique
presentations and awareness based on driving his students towards online citizenship.

Jayse: Thank you again Jesse for reconnecting us with our online footprint. We are so lucky to
have presenters and motivational speakers come from all over to be a part of our Yes2Know
summit.

Nikki: and thank you to all of you for being a wonderful crowd and being such a wonderful part
of our activities. We are excited to hear what you learned today. But first we have a few prizes
to give away. Our first winner is… etc.. etc…

Jayse: We would now like to thank all of the wonderful people behind the scenes making the
Yes2Know summit a fun and exciting event. Thank you to all of our teachers, organizers, Coast
Capital, the Parents Advisory Committee, School Admin, and fellow student teachers. We are
so thankful for all of you and making another fun and successful Yes2Know summit.

Nikki: And another thank you to all of you! We had an awesome day. Now make sure to put
everything back into your convention folders and leave your folder with your homeroom teacher
before exiting the Multi Purpose. Please stack the chairs in groups of five against the wall and
when the bell rings gather all of your things and exit the Multi Purpose room nicely.
