CLASSIFICATION OF WINE

STILL WINES
• Comprises the largest category of wine
• 8% - 15% alcohol by volume
• Light, Red and White Wine

DESSERT WINE –sweet wines

SPARKLING WINE – made by a secondary fermentation done in the bottle itself

ORGANIC WINE – made from organically grown grapes

FORTIFIED WINE – alcohol is added to a wine or a combination of wines

AROMATIZED WINE – fortified and flavored wines

BASIC STEPS IN TASTING A WINE

PRESENTING THE WINE


1. Showing the bottle to the host
2. Cutting the foil
3. Removing the top of the foil capsule
4. Inserting the corkscrew
5. Turning the corkscrew
