Subject: THE STUDY RECORD OF THE FIRST SEMESTER IN ADELAIDE

AUSTRALIA UNIVERSITY

In response to ADS scholarship, I would like to give the details of my study

record in the first semester at Adelaide, Australia University. As my major to study
TEFL, we have decided together, for two semester stay at Adelaide, Australia
University to have study visits as well as a comparative study about cross-cultural
understanding in the country that belongs to the inner circle.

I arrived to Adelaide at 5th January 2016. From that day I visited lectures of
subject Academic English. And for the comparative study I also visited lectures of
subject Indonesian Culture and Society to find out how the students understand the
culture and society of Indonesia. I was also allowed to visit the library in order to obtain
information related to TEFL.

At the beginning of the lecture I have trouble in adapting to the custom of the
students. My inability to cross-cultural understanding made me a little overwhelmed.
Fortunately, the students welcomed me nicely. They also helped me to introduce the
culture and their habits. The lecturers are also very kind and willing to teach me
patiently. So, I did not find significant hardship when I studied in the first semester.

However, in terms of non-academic I have an trouble. The distance between the

dorm I lived in with the campus was too far away and transportation is rather difficult to
reach. This issue is particularly disturbing my learning process because I am always
concerned if I arrived late to the campus then impacted on the quality of my studies.
The academic transcripts have been out last week, the following below is a
report on the results of my study.

Thanks to the ADS Scholarship I had a great experience, both personally and
academically. Besides, as one of the awardees I hope ADS Scholarship can provide
solutions regarding the problems that I have mentioned above.
