ABSTRACT
Hyperactive is part of ADHD which have been complained much by parents and
teachers. The characteristics of hiperactive are overactive, fingers flapping and difficult to
sit quietly in a long time. This behavior disorder makes them having difficulty in following
the study, incompliant and undisciplinary. The purpose of this study was to reduce
hiperactivity behavior by giving token economy. This was a pre-experimental study using
one group pre-post test design. Population comprised children with hyperactivity at SDLB
Alpa Kumara Wardana II Surabaya. Total samples were 10 children selected using
purposive sampling. The independent variable was yellow smile token economy and the
dependent variable was hyperactive behavior. Data were collected using Swanson, Nolan
and Pelham teacher and parent rating scale (SNAP) IV and analyzed using Wilxocon
Signed Rank Test with significance level a = 0.05. The result revealed Wilxocon Signed
Rank Test with p = 0.005. This indicates that there was significance effect of token
economy on the reduction of hiperactivity behavior in ADHD children. Favorite token may
provide motivation to the children to repeat the behavior. It is suggested to schools to
employ token economy consistently and continually to reduce hyperactive behavior in
children with ADHD.
