Run Nike Run

One day in a field of the coast of Athens, the goddess of victory, Nike had
challenged the goddess of hunting, Artemis to a race to see who was faster.
Artemis agrees to race, soon after, they speed across the long field. The race
lasted for only a bit over a minute, and in the end Artemis had beaten Nike by a
hair. Nike being the goddess of victory was, of course, furious. She erupted in a
fit of rage and demanded a re-race. Artemis not wanting to anger her anymore,
reluctantly agreed; It was in that moment that Nike hatched a plan to ensure her
a win.

Given a day to prepare, Nike quickly put her plan into motion, starting
with Hephaestus. She had traveled all the way to Hephaestus's workshop, for he
was the god of blacksmith and craftsman. Nike had entered the workshop, with a
purpose. “ What has brought you here to my shop Goddess Nike?” Hephaestus
questioned, “That doesn't matter,” She retorted, “what matters is that I need a
pair of shoes, special shoes, and I need them now!” “ What kind of shoes?”
Hephaestus questioned. His curiosity had peaked due to the Goddesses, secretive
and demanding demeanor. “ I need shoes that make me fast, unbeatably fast,”
she responded. “Ahh, I have just the thing,” he said while pulling out a box from
under the counter. “ Here it is the fastest pair of shoes I’ve ever made!”
Hephaestus said proudly. “ But be warned, for the shoe-”
“Yeah, Yeah, okay I got it,” Nike had said knowingly, cutting off what
Hephaestus had to say, as she swiftly left the shop.

The next day, the two goddesses had a few minutes to get ready for the
race. This was a chance for Nike to quickly put on the shoes. They finished
preparing and waited at the starting line. “3, 2 ,1! GO!” Shouted Nike's
personal referee. And with that they boomed off. At first, the shoes didn’t
appear to work, but suddenly Nike zoomed past Artemis. Artemis stood still for
only mere seconds before Nike began yelling “STOP! STOP! I COMMAND YOU TO
STOP!”, but the shoes didn’t stop. Nike suddenly realising that her shoes wouldn’t
be stopping anytime soon began running in giant circles. After 30 minutes of
watching Nike frantically run laps, Artemis” left.

As Nike entered her 3rd hour of running giant circles, she thought to
herself, “ Why didn’t I listen to what Hephaestus had said?!” “No! This is all his
fault, not mine!” She kept thinking about her current situation for hours, until
she noticed something. “ Oh no” she said as she noticed that she had created a
trench, and that water was slowly pouring in from the ocean. Nike being the
“Genius” she was decided to just continue to make the circles bigger and bigger,
until during the 23rd hour. She had eventually created the start of an island,
which is now known today as the island of Aegina. Nike learned (After 24 hours of
non-stop running), that cheating is never the answer.
