Subject: The Capacity Building Seminar for Lupong Tagapamayapa

REPORT

 There were more participants who attended the previous seminar last June 29,2016 compared
to the first one held on June 22, 2016 based on their attendance. This depicts that our Lupong
Barangay members are becoming more open to new ways and ideas how to manage
circumstances and settlements as part of their job.
 The said seminar was made possible by the partnership of the City Legal Office (CLO) and the
DILG.
 The first speaker was Atty. Marites Taniegra from the City Legal Office who discussed about:
Steps in Resolving Mediation, Cases covered by the Katarungang Pambarangay, Physical Injuries,
Exempted Cases, Proper recording of every disputes and sending summon to parties, Settlement
and award period and Efficiency in Cooperation.
 The participants were attentive and good listeners. They ask questions if needed especially if
something seems unfamiliar to them and if statements are not easy to understand.
 The second speaker, Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay-Senro from DILG discussed about “Restorative
Justice/ Transformative Justice: A way of looking/ seeing/ doing in mediation/ Conciliation
Process”
 The second speaker gets more informative as she cited situations she experienced abroad as a
help to our Lupons to understand different scenarios that may happen any time.
 The program ended with picture taking with their certificates on and acknowledging the Lupons
who participated to the said seminar.

REPORT:

 There was a seminar conducted on session hall last June 29, 2016 1:00-5:00pm by the DILG in
partnership with City Legal Office.
 Atty. Marites Taniegra and Atty. Rochelle D. Mahinay-Sero were the speakers of the seminar.
 The participants of the seminar were the lupong tagapamayapa of different barangays in
General Santos City.
 The first part of the seminar were all about the functions of the lupong tagapamayapa, the ways
they may settle the dispute, the cases that they could only settle, and the reward system that
the lupon may acquire.
 The Second part of the program were all about the restorative justice, its meaning, examples of
situations of the cases.
 After the seminar the speakers distribute certificates to the participants of the seminar.
