SUBJECT: Recognition of Battalion Doctor’s Note Policy

1. Purpose: To establish standard operating procedures for handling doctor notes


and excusing Cadets from training including Physical Readiness Training (PRT)
due to injury or illness.

2. Policy: If a cadet needs to be excused from training due to injury or illness, they
will notify their chain of command prior to 1700 the day before excusal. If the
Cadet does not notify chain of command the day prior they have 48 hours to
send their doctor’s note to SGT Shehan at willian.a.shehan.mil@mail.mil, or bring
the note to the office. Battalion leadership will then inform Company leadership
upon SGT Shehan’s approval of received Doctor’s note. Failure to submit official
note will result in an unexcused absence.

3. No Cadet can handle another’s medical information to include Doctor’s note.

4. If a Cadet can’t make PT or training due to illness or injury, Chain of Command


must be notified no matter if it is morning of or day prior to training.

5. If a Cadet cannot afford a Doctor visit, they can attend the training but will not be
forced to participate.

6. Depending on illness or injury the Cadet will either remain at training or sent
home.
