LESSON PLAN TEMPLATE
In this lesson…
Students will learn how to deliver a presentation using oral and visual
Overview embellishments, then deliver their own. Students are encouraged to choose their own
subject within a specific area.

Introduction/ Have students respond to a question, “Who is your favorite fictional character from
Hook a book?”
Day One: Presentation Etiquette
1. Hand out “How to Present Notes” to students, and tell them to take out their
1-1 devices
2. (15-20 min) Deliver a presentation on presentations via Google Slides (See:
How to Present), and have students take notes
a. Model proper presentation etiquette, following along with the slides
b. Point out to students when you are using a certain tone or hand
gestures to add to your presentation
Instructional c. Explain the 5-5 rule
Activities 3. (20 min) Have students follow along with how to create a Google Slides
presentation
a. Open up Google Slides, create a new presentation
b. Let students know that themes will be changed ​last​ so they are not
distracted
c. Start with explaining how to insert text and photos
d. Adding slides
e. Transitions: when to and when not to
f. Themes: remind students to do this step ​last
Day Two and Three: The Project
1. Introduce project to students using “Favorite Character” directions sheet
a. Go over directions with students, reminding them to refer back to the
notes from the previous day
b. Encourage them to work in groups of two, but individual is okay as
well
c. Allow questions from students
d. Give students 10 minutes to decide, then write down groups
2. Project work time
a. Walk around the room to assist students, answer questions, and
monitor work time
b. If students seem to be struggling on a certain area, bring it up to the
whole class and reteach that section (i.e. how to add photos)
3. Give students another day to work on the presentation
Day Four: Present!
1. Have students get into their groups and give them 10 minutes to do some last
minute changes and/or practice.
2. Allow students to volunteer to present, then randomly choose if none
volunteer
3. When students are presenting, use the rubric for grading
4. Remind other students to be respectful during the presentations

One student has visual impairment, in which case the student will be provided larger
Accommodations font notes and directions, and, if they wish, will have some things read to them.
One student has ADD, and will be reminded to stay on task, as stated in their IEP.
● Have students answer a survey on how well they think they did, as well as
how much they enjoyed the project
Closure Activity ● Have students vote on who their favorite characters are based upon other
presentations

Presentations will be assessed with a rubric


Assessments Google Slides will be shared with teacher in order to monitor progress
