1d Recognize and name upper/lower case letters


Sound Recognition and Identification RF. K. 3a One to one letter sound correspondences by producing the
primary sound for each consonant

Parent Directions: Show the grid below and the child will say the letter names and/or sounds.

Modifications: 1. Parent names the letters as the choice points (recognizes).


2. Parent isolates each uppercase or lowercase letter while child identifies.

Blend Onset/Rime RF.K.2c Blend and segment onsets and rimes of single-syllable spoken words

Parent Directions: Child will put sounds together to make a word. Parent will say, “I am going to say a word slowly.
Listen: sh-i. When we push the word together it makes the word ‘shy.’”

Segment Onset/Rime RF.K.2c Blend and segment onsets and rimes of single-syllable spoken words

Parent Directions: Child will hear a simple word and then break it into its onset (beginning) and rime (rest of the word). Parent will
say, I am going to say a word. Listen: map. I can say the beginning sound, /m/, and then say the rest of the word /ap/.
