Directions: Using the template below, describe how you would use the interactive whiteboard in
your future classroom. Consider if your ideas is teacher centered or student centered. The learning
activities should be engaging and meaningful to the students and to others who will view/use/benefit
from students’ work.

Description of how to implement in the class: I will have a map of Latin America on the
board, and we will randomly pull from a list of Latin America countries using the name
generator. Whichever country is chosen, it is the students’ job to know where it is located on
the map. Once identified, the country will be colored in.

Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): Loti Level 3. The lesson is teacher led, but
students apply what they learned through the use of technology. They are shown the country
and the student colors in which country is chosen on the map. This integrates students with
technology, and it is more student centered into where they make the decisions based on what
they have learned.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. I hope the students learn where countries
and landforms are located in Latin America. It is a region that not most people are aware of. The use
of technology can help them learn by them coloring in the countries or drawing a river on the
whiteboard to show what they have learned. It can be saved and used later on.

Importance of technology: Using an interactive whiteboard can get the students moving in class.
They can go up themselves to color in the countries or draw the different landforms in class. It is
applying what they know on the technology tool. This tool also serves as a presentation tool. The
students can see what is on the board in real time and watch the changes made.

Reflection: I learned that using interactive whiteboards takes time and practice to be successful at it.
Once I feel like I have mastered it, I will be able to use it effectively. Another thing that I learned
about is the Smartboard Exchange. This is a cool site that allows people to share what they have
created for others to use. I can use the different templates made to create lessons and use ideas that I
have not thought of. 1
