they should take it upon themselves to uphold the glory of our
country by being an ideal student. What are the qualities which
an ideal student should have?
Firstly, an ideal student should be responsible. This refers
to the ability to think before making any decisions or taking any
actions, as well as being accountable for the results of one's
actions. The ideal student should be attentive to the duties
given to him or her and carry it out to the best of his or her
ability. In addition, the ideal student does not waste time, but
plans and manages his or her time well.
Next, the ideal student should be willing to learn. He or
she should always have a thirst for knowledge and a desire
to experiment and explore. This is not limited to studying
textbooks and doing research on the Internet. Students should
hone their skills in this regard by participating in debates, talks,
seminars and so on, They should also broaden their minds
by exchanging opinions with those around them to gain new
perspectives on things.
Aside from that, participating in extra-curricular activities
should be one of the qualities of an ideal student. As the saying
goes, All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy." Taking part
in sports and games is a good way to build one's character. Not
only does it benefit one's health, students will also learn values
such as teamwork, sportsmanship and discipline. All of these
are important to nurture an ideal student.
Not only that, the ideal student should possess good moral
values too such as having a sense of right and wrong. He or
she abides by the rules and regulations of one's educational
institution. The ideal student also obeys the laws of the country
and stays away from wrongdoings such as vandalism and drug
abuse.
All in all, the ideal student should be well-rounded in both
academics and extra-curricular activities, and possess strong
moral values on top of having a responsible attitude. With these
in hand, no doubt he or she will be a trailblazer in the future.

The novel Dear Mr. Kilmer is about Richard Knight who
lives with his father, his elder brother and his sister Angie.
Richard has a soft spot for nature and poetry. In this novel, the
incident which taught me a lesson is when Richard signs the
apology card.
When the Schermers' tavern was vandalized, Mrs Hansen
asked her class to sign a sympathy card for them: The
troublemakers like Abner, Harry, Blanche and Peggy refused to
sign the card. They warned the other students not to sign the
card. Despite facing the possibility of being out casted, Richard
still signed the sympathy card. He did not allow his classmates
to pressure him into fitting in. This incident taught me that we
have to be brave to stand for what is right.
In addition, I learnt about the strength of friendship through
this incident. Richard not only signed the card. He went the
extra mile to send the card to the Schermers and comforted
Hannah. This shows his ability to care for his friends.
In a nutshell, this incident taught me two important lessons. I
have learned that it is important for us to stand for the rights
and stand by our principles. Richard inspires me to be more
courage and matured in life.
