Students completed CFA 3 towards the end of the year.

They made significant progress and the overall


average score was a 54%. This represented 40% growth in their academic content knowledge.

There was significant improvement in student proficiency with North Carolina Essential Standards. A
percentage of students mastered every standard and there were a host of students in the near mastery
category. Remediation levels decreased in all standards from the pre-test to the final CFA.
Students used the test-taking strategy to support them in completing CFA 3. By engaging with the
process of annotating, they were able to determine the best answer choices as influenced by links or
connections they drew. This supported student growth as they had a tool to utilize to tackle rigorous
questions.
