Dear parent/guardian,

My name is Briana Rice, and I am an elementary education and special education teacher
candidate from Northern State University. I am very honored to be a part of such a fantastic
education program that has provided me with so many amazing opportunities and experiences.
This program has brought me to your student’s class for my student teaching experience.

I graduated from Redfield High School in 2012. I then graduated from the Dental Assisting
program at Lake Area Technical Institute in 2014. I spent a year working in Pierre, SD, as a
dental assistant before I decided to follow my heart and come to Northern State to be a teacher.

Through my life experiences, I have gained many skills that I feel will help me be an exceptional
teacher. Growing up in a large family, I have learned a lot about loving others unconditionally
and kindness. Through my work experiences, I have learned about compassion, caring for
others, and making others feel comfortable. I also feel that I am responsible, self-driven,
energetic, and motivated. I plan to utilize my skills in all my future teaching experiences to be
the best educator I can be.
