My name is Sidney Gerdes, I am writing to apply for the fourth-grade teaching position that was advertised
on the Lac qui Parle Valley School District website. I am a recent graduate of South Dakota State
University, with a Bachelor Science Degree and certification in Elementary Education, along with a
certification in Physical Education Teaching and Coaching. I was pleased to see there was an opening
because I would like to stay within this district. I have spent the past five months at Madison, Marietta,
Nassau Elementary School student teaching. During this time, I have formed positive relationships and
have worked well with staff, teachers, and administration.

My skills and experience have prepared me to be an exceptional teacher for your district. I have strengths
in organization, time management, leadership, flexibility, and am passionate about making a difference in
students’ lives. I will make sure to put my student’s safety and education first when I become a teacher. My
coursework and experiences have prepared for this position.

I will take pride in my work and my students’ success. I am prepared to equip students with a good attitude
of lifelong learning as I guide them to understand concepts expected for Elementary Education standards.
I will put in all the time necessary to meet expectations and give these students the best education they
can receive.

I would also be interested in being involved with extracurricular activities in the district to support students
in developing aspects of themselves. I have been involved in sports all my life and would like to pass on
the information and the skills I have learned to the next generation of students.

I believe I am a great fit for Lac qui Parle Valley School District because I see the potential in all students
as learners. I have grown up in this district and believe it is a wonderful place to grow up as a learner. Feel
