Answer:

English Solution:
Let, the amount of cost price be Tk. x and,
The amount of sale price be Tk. y
According to the question,
7 8
y  100 = x  100

 7y = 8x
8
y = 7 x ......................... (i)

9 10
and, y  100 - x  100 = 1

 9y - 10x = 100
8
 9  7 x- 10 x = 100

 72x - 70x = 700

 2x = 700
 x = 350
8
(i) y = 7 350 = 400

So, cost price is Tk. 350 and the amount of profit Tk. (400 - 350) = Tk. 50

2. Mr. Amin invests Tk. 24000 in Dhaka Bank at 7.50%. How much additional money must he invest
at 10% so that the total income will be equal to 9.25% of his entire investment ?

hv‡Z †gvU Avq cy‡iv wewb‡qv‡Mi 9.25% Gi mgvb nq ?

Answer:

English Solution:

Let, the additional amount invested = Tk. x

So, total amount invested =24000 + x Tk.
9.25 9.25x
Total income at the rate of 9.25% = 100 × (24000 + x) = 2220 + 100 Tk.

Mr. Amin invests 24000 in Bank at 7.5%

7. 5
So annual income =100 × 24000 = 1800 Tk.

now Mr. Amin invest the remaining x at 10%

10 x
So annual income = 100 × x = 10 Tk.

Now return on 24000 in the national Bank at 7.5% + return on x at 10% = return on total investment
(24000+x) at 9.25%
x 9.25x
 1800 + 10 = 2220 + 100

x 9.25x
 10 - 100 = 2220 - 1800

10x - 9.25x
 100 = 420

 10x - 9.25x = 42000

 0.75x = 42000
 75x = 4200000
 x = 56000
So, additional amount to be invested is 56000 Tk.

03. Solve the problem: x + 1 + 2x + 1 = 3x + 1

Answer:
3 6 18
x + 1 + 2x + 1 = 3x + 1
3 6 9+9
 x + 1 + 2x + 1 = 3x + 1

3 6 9 9
 x + 1 + 2x + 1 = 3x + 1 + 3x + 1

3 9 9 6
 x + 1 - 3x + 1 = 3x + 1 - 2x + 1

3(3x + 1) - 9(x + 1) 9(2x + 1) - 6(3x + 1)

 (x + 1) (3x + 1) = (3x + 1) (2x + 1)
9x + 3 - 9x + 9 18x + 9 - 18x - 6
 (x + 1) (3x + 1) = (3x + 1) (2x + 1)

-6 3
 (x + 1) (3x + 1) = (3x + 1) (2x + 1)

2 -1
 (x + 1) (3x + 1) = (3x + 1) (2x + 1) [dividing both sides by (-3)]

2 1
 (x + 1) (3x + 1) = - (3x + 1) (2x + 1)

2 1
 (x + 1) (3x + 1) + (3x + 1) (2x + 1) = 0

1 2(2x + 1) + 1(x + 1)
 3x + 1 [ (x + 1)(2x + 1) ]= 0

1 4x + 2 + x + 1
 3x + 1 [(x + 1)(2x + 1) ]= 0

1 5x + 3
 3x + 1 [(x + 1)(2x + 1) ]= 0

1 1
Either, 3x + 1 = 0 but, here we do not get the value of x, so 3x + 1  0

5x + 3
or, (x + 1)(2x + 1) = 0

In this case (x + 1) (2x + 1)  0 because if (x + 1) (2x + 1) = 0 then the value will be Infinity.
S0, 5x + 3 = 0
 5x = - 3
3
x=-5

3
 The required solution, x = - 5

04. Find the value of x4 + x4 , if x = 5– 4

Answer:

Given that, x = 5– 4 ...................... (i)

Now, Reversing Equation (i)
1 1
x= 5- 4

1 1 ( 5 + 4)
x= [Multiply numerator and denominator by 5+ 4]

x= 5-4
1
x= 5+ 4 ..........................(ii)

Now, {(i) + (ii) we have,

x+x=( 5- 4)+( 5+ 4)

1
x+x= 5- 4 + 5+ 4
