Aether, The Primordial Light

Denizen of the Light Aspect

Aether was the primordial god of light and the consort of Hemera. His mists rest above the sky
and is the very air the gods breathed, it brings the light to the mortal world. At dawn Hemera
scatters Erebus’ darkness to bring day and in the evening, Nyx draws it across the sky bringing
night - the first revealing Aether, the heavenly light of the ether, the second concealing it. For
Aether was the source of light and day, and Erebus the source of darkness and night. He
envelops the mountain tops, clouds, stars, sun and moon.

The Quest
Land of Light: Aether has scattered himself all across the Land, which is now trapped in never
ending day. All visitors to this Land pretty much has to wear sunglasses though, it’s pretty
bright. The Land itself is quite visible in the Medium, rivaled only by Skaia’s Light. Nonetheless,
the Player is tasked with finding and confronting Aether.

Land of Blindness: The Denizen has basically chosen the opposite option to the one above.
He has taken himself and hid from all the Land, which is now plunged into eternal dark. Similarly
to Erebus’ Land, it is invisible in the background darkness of the Furthest Ring. The Consorts
themselves seem to be unable to speak truth for some reason, as if the Land itself has
shrouded their words in mystery. The Player is tasked with bringing back the Light.

The Battle
Aether is not a Denizen you simply battle, he is composed entirely of mist, making it quite hard
to damage him. He can also fly at high altitudes, making it harder to attack him physically.
Although his glowing body would make it quite hard to miss him.

The Prize
Etheric Lantern - A Lantern capable of revealing anything. Used as a regular light, it can light
up whole Lands, even the whole of the Incipisphere in the right conditions. Used creatively, it
can reveal secrets, unveiling illusions and invisibility and forcing others to confess their deepest
darkest secrets.
Strife Portfolio

Ephemeral Form
A natural part of Aether’s body. Instead of a physical form, Aether possesses an ephemeral
one, allowing him to pass through obstacles easily. Though he is not intangible, his gaseous
form prevents all damage that would be dealt to him unless the weapon or ability used to deal it
had anti-intangible or anti-light properties, such as some Blood and Void powers and certain
Alchemized Weapons. Such measures are advised.

Elusive Simulacra
Aether can bend his light in impossible ways, creating mirror images of himself and others to
fool the unwary. He can create copies of anything within his Land, possible forcing the Player to
fight against shadows-err, mirages.of enemies and dodge nonexistent obstacles. This ability is
exclusively focused on sight however, and thus any Player with ways of detecting enemies or
obstacles using other senses would be relatively immune.

Nimble Nimbus
Aether is as fast as light itself, which he technically is. He can move throughout the battlefield at
the speed of light, which makes her harder to hit, and of course, grants he better chances of
hitting you. Thankfully, he cannot move any faster nor does he have any particular resistance to
Time powers. As such using abilities granted by Time, either freezing or slowing down Aether or
speeding yourself up, is advised.

Blazing Brilliance
Aether is light itself, he’s about as bright as the sun. This ability creates glare which makes it
much harder to target him. This passive and permanently active power makes talking to him
very difficult, and also happens to make any attempt at stealth on his part futile. Just wear
sunglasses or something.

Radiant Barrage
Aether can create beams of scouring light so intense, it could melt through steel. It has a range
that can cover most of the Land, and he can fire dozens of them at a time. Finding ways to
protect yourself from Light damage is essential to surviving this encounter.
Treasure Hoard

Etheric Lantern
An exquisitely crafted lantern, it appears to be crafted from entirely golden light. It has dial on it
side to control its effects and brightness.
Effervescent Incandescence - The object can be used to light up whole Lands, and cannot be
blocked by physical barriers, and does not cast shadows. It can be set to light the area evenly or
with it being the brightest point.
Radiant Revelation - The object can reveal deception and secrecy, it would create a dark aura
around any who lie or is keeping a secret, this includes invisible targets allowing for their
detection. It also compels all within its light to tell the truth, no matter how unwilling they are.

Spyglass
A round piece of glass, it looks to be a monocle with a golden trim.
Transparency - The object allows the user to look through solid objects, they can fine tune this
to only look through certain objects and / or materials. Certain powers can negate this effect.

Flashlight
Aether seems rather fond of collecting sources of light. From torches to flashlight, you can find
them in Aether’s Hoard.
