Indonesia and China Agreed to Boost Science and Technology Cooperation

Jakarta (B2B) - Indonesian government believes collaboration in science and technology


innovation between Indonesian universities and China will continue to be improved so that both
countries will be the pioneers of science and innovation development both countries and the
world, according to minister.

Indonesia Research, Technology and Higher Education Minister Mohammad Nasir said
the Indonesia - China Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation Forum, or STI Forum,
carries the main agenda is launching three years of Plan of Action on Science, Technology and
Innovation Cooperation 2018 - 2020 as guidelines for cooperation between the two countries.
"Both countries have identified new areas of cooperation such as the high spaced railway
research center and joint center of ocean science and technology programs, with the focal point
being the Bandung Institute of Technology or ITB," Mr. Nasir told reporters here on Monday
(November 27).

He added that about 150 participants will be present at this strategic event with details of
about 60 Chinese delegates. And the rest from Indonesia non-ministerial government agencies,
universities, innovators, and observers. According to Nasir, synergy between Indonesia and
China is an effort to improve the economic growth of country and the welfare of people, due to
management of human resources, especially education program for young generation.

"Both countries also agreed to increase port construction cooperation. In Indonesia, the
cooperation is supported by ITB, science techno park development and focal point by directorate
general of science and technology institute in ministry," he said.
