Goals and Outcomes for Western Carolina University’s Undergraduate

Admissions Office

SA-UA-UG-01: Data Informed Recruitment Focused on Student Quality

Goal: Engage in tools and targeted data applications for the recruitment of new and returning

undergraduate students that will ensure the fiscal vitality and quality of WCU.

Outcome: Increased prospect and application pools in primary and secondary markets to achieve the

desired sizes of entering first year students and transfer cohorts.

SA-UA-UG-05: Promote Diversity and Special Populations

Goal: Promote access to higher education to the region and to an increasingly diverse population.

Outcome: Increase enrollment rates for out-of-state, international, Honors College, Eastern Band of

Cherokee Indian, and other minority student populations.

SA-UA-UG-02: Enhance Business Processes

Goal: Enhance data systems and streamline business processes.

Outcome: Elimination of paper file folders in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and centralization

of college transcript submissions.

SA-UA-UG-03: Professional Development of Staff

Goal: Support campus, divisional, and unit efforts related to professional development and service

enrichment.

Outcome: Increase the number of staff taking advantage of professional development and leadership

opportunities

SA-UA-UG-04: Promoting and Displaying School Spirit

Goal: Promote school spirit as the front door and first impression of campus until the end of the students’

visitation/stay.

Outcome: Increase the level of participation in university events and opportunities (e.g., purple Fridays,

Student Affairs divisional events, Employee Appreciation Day).
