PROCEDURE
Introduction
As they come in from changing: set of workout activities (on board)

Expectations for Learning and Behaviour: do not touch the targets already pre-laid
out.

Low-Management Time: have targets ready and set up. Have badminton
equipment and nets set up.

Transition to Body: Bring everyone in for explanation of activity

Body
Learning Activity #1: Knock the Towers Target Game
Ask: Looking at the targets laid out, what types of shots have we worked on in
class that would be useful in hitting these targets?

Say: This is a target practice activity. Each target is placed in a specific spot (so
please don’t move them). The goal is to hit each target and try to get as many
points as possible. The birdie must hit the target in order for the hit to count
towards your score.

Do: demonstration of activity and explanation of point value and rotation

expectations.

Rules: students will have 1 minute (timed) to hit as many targets as possible.
Their partner will be on the target side judging if the birdie hits the target or not.
They will also be responsible for getting the birdie and bringing it back to their
partner.  couple rounds of practice for each group then competition begins –
keep track of scores on the board.
Assessment/Differentiation: Targets may be moved depending on the skill level of
the class.

Key Questions: what shots are most helpful when aiming for these targets? How
did the time pressure impact your performance?

Learning Activity #2: Around the world (if time/need)

Rules: if you lose the point, you lose your racket. If you gain a point over the other
team, you may regain your racket.
Ask: how can you use the shots we have worked on already to succeed in making
the other team lose the point?
Say: teams of 3 vs. teams of 3. All players waiting their turn must remain OFF the
court boundaries until their turn. Every time you eliminate your opponents entire
team it is 1 point for your team.

Key Questions: how can you use the shots we have worked on already to succeed
in making the other team lose the point?
