In the fiber optics, we have a special type single mode fiber

it is called Polarization maintaining fiber (PM Fiber), for that
single mode PM was designed with the idea to propagate only
one polarization of the input light, furthermore nowadays PM is
more than a simple polarization, in new experiments has an
important role in high bit-rate fiber transmission systems.
In this paper I explain main characteristics about (PMF) and
different types of (PMF) in cross section as they are: Panda,
Elliptical-clad and Bow-tie.
In PM main characteristic is preserve and transmit the
polarization state about the light that is launched inside Optical
Fiber, which is very important for external modulators that
required a polarized light input. [1]
In the cross-section fibers on (PMF) contains stress rods that
are two circles on Panda PM Fiber, an optical-clad for elliptical-
clad and finally two bow-ties in Bow-tie type PM.
Other important characterize between PM transmission is the
output (PMF) is polarization extinction ratio (PER) if do not
have the correct polarization it must be have a lot of losses
expressed in dB that parameter is called PER meter. Fig. 1. Representation Panda & Bow-tie Style

In this paper, we collect measures that present in the

following table on comparison on Panda Style and Bow-tie Style In the experiments on 2001 for Onlab investigators have the
about PM fiber. [2] following results for PDM at 1550 nm
