Create Your Own Poem:

Directions: Following guidelines on the rubric create your own poem! Choose
your topic based on the following suggestions or create your own. Remember to
adhere to the grammar and length expectations (set in the rubric).

Topic Ideas:
 Romantic Poem: Write about a special partner in your life that has had a
significant impact on you in some way.
 Honoring Poem: Write about a person (past or present) who has touched
you in some way. Honor them through your verses.
 Familial Poem: Write about a family member whom you have strong
feelings towards. Discuss a powerful memory or experience that you shared
with this person.
 Sensory Poem: Using sensory words, describe a singular moment or
experience. How did it feel? What did you see? Take the reader to this special
moment with your words.
 Heartbroken Poem: Write about a tragedy or loss that you have endured.
Using emotions and tone help the reader to feel what you experienced and
empathize with it.
 Create your own! Create a poem about another topic that intrigues you. Be
sure to check this topic with Profe. Freel before beginning to draft.
