The survey is being conducted to determine trends of backpack sales for high school
students. We are Executive Buyers for Dick’s Sporting Goods. Our job is to use results from
surveys so we can stock merchandise for the next school year based on popularity, trends, and
price points. We chose Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic because it gives a variety of people from
different school districts, grade levels, and interests. The school is also located near a major
branch of the company. Surveying all four grades helps to see if certain brands are familiarized
and more commonly bought as students move up grade levels. As Executive Buyers, we have to
pick products that will sell so we can make the most profit.

The frequency of the data shows us how many students are in each class. Based on this survey,
the majority of students were located in classes two and three, which correlate to prices between
forty-seven to eighty dollars. The relative frequency shows the amount of students in each class
of the survey relative to the total number of people surveyed. The midpoint provides us with the
median of each class. This is helpful so that we can see the median of each price range.
Box and Whisker Plot:
This box and whisker plot portrays the range and means of the data set. The minimum value in
the data set is 30 and the maximum value is 110. The median of all the data values is 60. This is
the Q2 value. From there, the median of the first half of the values is 50 (which is Q1) and the
