On Tuesday 27th of February 2018, I taught three subjects including this one. At 11:20pm, I
taught my 3rd lesson of the day which was Science – Fruits. The lesson took place in SIPS, in
Ms. Roopa’s KG2B classroom. For this lesson, I wanted students to be able to compare between
The students were pretty much worn out by all the activities they did, which led me try to keep it
simple and short. During the introduction, I sang the Fruits song that Ms. Roopa always sings
with them and asked students to join me. I transitioned then to the group activity, where I used
the fruit and vegetable basket that was on the desk to call each student to come up and cover her
or his eyes. I took a real or fake fruit/vegetable and asked the student to feel it and make
comparisons of their skins and take a guess whether it is a fruit or vegetable. Once the students
have guessed correct, I would ask them to describe it (color/taste). We later on played a small
group game where students had to identify the name of the fruit together shown on the screen
and circle the correct answer. The students will then be each given a worksheet where they were
instructed to count the fruits, write the correct total of each, and color.
When each student was called to come up, at first students would just start screaming out the
answer but I reminded them that I would choose the ones who are sitting nicely. Students
enjoyed coming up and taking a guess. During closing, students will spend their time copying
down the fruits names at least 3 times each. Through these group activities, students would
recall the name of the fruits and vegetables that were previously learned. I consider this lesson to
be one of my best so far at SIPS, although the students have been working hard the whole day
they still managed to be motivated and find the activities enjoyable, I could tell by the way they
I could enhance this lesson in the future by putting on a puppet show staring colorful fruits and
vegetables. Through this play we’re going to talk about the benefits of eating healthy food. We
will round up the students and have an expert come talk about healthy food and food that we
should avoid. We can also use fake fruits and vegetables to dip it into painting and use it as
brush to make a background for the play and have the students help out. E.g. either find a plastic
apple or a real one and cut it in half and dip in the paint then paste it on the paper. Then we can
set for the play and before beginning I will allow children to brainstorm ideas for our healthy
play production. We will also invite the parents to watch the students produce the play, this way
