1. Title : Experience about medication when constipation

2. Case :
When I was 18 years old I had experienced constipation. At first I thought it was just
a regular pain but over time I felt uncomfortable. That day when I came home from
school I complained of pain in my lower abdomen. I have not been defecating for 4 days.
Usually I always defecate every day in the morning. When I went to the doctor I was
given a laxative and I was able to defecate properly. About 1 month later I experienced
the same abdominal pain most likely due to the irregular daily eating habits, and I also
rarely ate vegetables and fruits. Since then I feel no appetite.
3. Medication :
Some ways to treat and prevent constipation are:
a. Eat foods rich in fiber.
Fiber is an important element to nourish the digestive system. Fiber helps
feces to more easily pass through the intestines. Eating fiber-rich foods daily on a
regular basis will help improve overall health conditions. Fiber-rich sources
include fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.
b. Drinking Enough Water
Most people who suffer from constipation are dehydrated. Water is very
important in moving garbage or feces in the intestine. Drinking water at least 8
glasses daily can prevent the emergence of constipation. Water can help make the
stool softer that it will not cause pain either in the intestine or when expelled
through the anus.
c. Exercise regularly
The results show that regular exercise can prevent constipation. Exercising for
thirty minutes every day or 3-5 times a week can help the digestive system work
more effectively and help prevent constipation.
d. Avoid delaying the urge to defecate.
Sometimes many choose to delay going to the bathroom when the urge to
defecate comes up with a variety of reasons. Delaying when the urge to defecate
appears can actually cause constipation.
If behavioral modification is unsuccessful, then pharmacologic therapy is added, and
the bias is used for laxative drugs. There are four types of laxatives:

 Enlarge and soften the mass of feces, among others: Cereal, Methyl cellulose,
Psilium.
 Soften and lubricate the feces, this drug works by lowering the surface tension of
the stool, thus facilitating water absorption. Examples: castor oil, dochusate class.
 The osmotic group is not absorbed, so it is quite safe to use, for example in
patients with kidney failure, among others: sorbitol, lactulose, glycerin
 Stimulates peristaltic, thus improving bowel motility. This group is widely used.
It should be noted that this type of laxative can be used for the long term, can
damage the plexusmesenterikus and result in dismotilitas colon. For example:
Bisakodil, Phenolptalein.
