You are on the Leisure Committee in your college.

This is an extract from a letter you receive from the

town council.

Could you carry out a survey and write a report on the leisure facilities for young people in the town,
addressing the following questions:

_what facilities young people use?

_are the facilities adequate or inadequate and why?

_in what other ways could the town help young people?

REPORT ON LEISURE FACILITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Introduction

The aims of this report are:

1_give an overview of the town`s leisure facilities used by adolescents.

2_comment on whether the young people make use of the amenities.

3_explain if some are facilities adequate or inadequate.

4_ recommend extra backing the town could get.

As preparation for this report, the Leisure Committee of Franklin Institute carried out
interviews and surveys of young students of this town.

Current Facilities

At the present time, the town has available only a few facilities used by teenagers: the
Balcarce street, two parks and two cinemas.

Adequacy and Inadequacy

Although many young people, who was interviewed, agreed that we have a beautiful
landscape, big cinemas, enormous park, the vast majority said that the town do not have
adequate leisure facilities for the young for the following reasons:

. Balcarce street´s bars are up to 18. There is no cheap bar for adolescent where they can sit
and talk.

. The cinemas are quite expensive

. There is no park in south area, and adolescents have to commute to Bientenario Park.

. The few sport centers has no indoor facilities, and teenagers cannot practice any sport in
rainy days.

. There are no cultural facilities or libraries at neighborhoods, the only one is at downtown.

Many of the young people we talk said the leisure facilities are mainly for middle age and old
people

Recommendations

In our view, the Adolescent Leisure Committee, the Town Council and business people should
set up groups of work to draw up a plan for future development of the town where they could
. establish a new street for young`s bar

. build up indoor amenities

.what extra facilities the local council could give free tax.
