1 INT. ROOM - NIGHT 1
Little hands move across old pages of a book. Little symbols
suggest a ritual of some kind.
CHILD
(muttering)
Five different pieces, together
make whole again. One living and
four owned.
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 2.
MATTHEW V.O.
The little tiger slunked through-
(beat)
The little tiger slinked?
VOICE V.O.
Mhm.
7 EXT. WOODS - NIGHT 7
Stars twinkle as something slinks through the woods.
MOM
Leaving for work.
Matt walks through his house located near Druid Hill Park.
The house is beginning to fall apart and the backyard is
full of debris.
MONTAGE:
- Matt watches the spider creep along his windowsill.
- Inside Matt watches television and looks through a BOX. He
pulls out several SMALL ANIMAL FIGURINES and a JAR.
- He watches a spider creep along his windowsill before
carefully enclosing it inside of the jar.
- Matt sits outside on the patio looking out towards the
bushes.
- Matt reads from an ancient book.
END MONTAGE
Matt hears his friends and slams the book closed. And packs
a BACKPACK He grabs his BACKPACK, flies out the door and
hops on his BIKE. They ride down the street.
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 3.
TY V.O.
I don’t think it’ll work Matt.
9 EXT. BALTIMORE - DAY 9
The boys ride past people sitting on stoops and walking in
and out of corner stores.
SAM
Where are we headed?
MATT
You’ll see.
A GUNSHOT rings out and the boys look back towards the
sound, but it barely seems to register for the boys.
TY
Maybe he’s going to kill us Sam.
Chop us up into tiger meat.
SAM
He’ll kill you first, more meat.
SAM
We’re going back outside Matt.
Matt seems to be looking for something.
4.
MATTHEW
Wait and see.
Matt keeps reading his book and the other two quickly get
bored. Ty creeps up on Sam like he’s a spider and attacks
him. The two go tumbling down the hill as Matt continues to
read his book.
15 EXT. BALTIMORE - DAY 15
SAM
Hippo.
TY
A hippo?
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 5.
SAM
Better than a spider.
The boys ride past a sign that reads: DRUID HILL PARK and
see signs for the zoo. They can hear the SOUNDS of the zoo
coming from the other side.
SAM
I told you no one was here.
17 EXT. DRUID HILL PARK - EVENING CONTINUOUS 17
Ty, Sam, and Matt see several POLICE OFFICERS searching the
area just past the zoo.
TY
That must be on account of the
tiger.
SAM
I didn’t hear about that.
TY
It ate a guy.
SAM
Why do you always lie Ty?
TY
I’m not lying.
(beat)
Go ask them.
SAM
(groaning)
What are they going to tell us?
(beat)
You lying?
An officer YELLS towards the boys. The three of them peel
out and back towards their homes in the city.
Claire peels Tom’s arm off from around her shoulder. As she
stands its clear she’s a bit tipsy.
20 INT. HOUSE - NIGHT CONTINUOUS 20
Claire comes into Matt’s room. Matt quickly pushes his box
and old book under his bed. Claire sits next to Matt on his
bed.
MATTHEW
Did a tiger escape from the zoo?
CLAIRE
Who told you that?
Matt can smell the wine on her breath.
MATTHEW
Ty.
CLAIRE
That boy lies.
Claire sees Matt’s box and his old book. He pushes them
further under his bed. She moves towards it.
CLAIRE
Want to come in with us?
TY
Your mom doesn’t think so.
Sam pushes Ty. They’re quiet for a minute. Ty crouches
perched up on a hill behind Sam. Ty pounces. Matt wanders
further into the woods as his friend play. They realize he’s
not there anymore so they go looking for him. Off in the
distance they see Matt talking, but can’t see if anyone else
is there.
SAM
Matt?
Matt walks outside with his backpack on and into the night.
26 EXT. WOODS - NIGHT 26
MONTAGE:
- An empty zoo.
- The woods.
VOICE V.O.
And another.
29 EXT. DRUID HILL PARK - DUSK 29
Sam and Ty ride by the park, they yell into the woods and go
in. Sam looks down and sees disturbed earth. He moves some
of the dirt away and sees Matt’s backpack. He finds the
shirt inside and runs. The old book isn’t faraway. He and Ty
ride their bikes away.
VOICE V.O.
And another.
