 Chairman’s Chat
On the Unofficial Women’s Institute Facebook page new
(and old) WI members chat, ask questions, discuss
problems on a chatty, friendly Forum. As your NEW
chairman this column will be my take on that chat space.
Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, WhatsApp and Instagram
are all forms of social media used to communicate with
others.
On the BFWI website a member writes a regular blog
putting her interpretation on County events that she has
gone to; very informative, amusing and easy to read.
Just over three years ago as Press Officer I had to learn
how to utilise all these apps, a huge learning curve - a
warning, they can be very addictive!
Now where have I put that new broom.................

Independent Financial Examiner
If your WI does require a BFWI Independent
Financial Examiner, please complete the
application form (with May’s newsletter) in full
and return it with an A5 SAE to IFE Scheme Administrator,
BFWI, Stuart Lodge, Stuart Road, High Wycombe, Bucks,
HP13 6AG as soon as possible but for arrival no later than
Fri, 8 June. If your WI uses an external examiner and
does not require a BFWI Independent Financial
Examiner, please send an email as soon as possible but
for arrival no later than Friday 8 June to:
ife.bucks@gmail.com. Please include the following:
Subject Line: WI name. Message: BFWI IFE not required
followed by the sender’s name and position in your WI.
The allocation process for those WIs requiring a BFWI
Examiner cannot begin until ALL WIs have replied; a
prompt return would be much appreciated.

Browse our home-made craft, craft materials,
cards and napkins all at really competitive
prices. Why not take a box of goods back to
your own WI on a sale or return basis? Our Craft Club meets
on the second Tuesday of each month at Stuart Lodge when
you can share skills or learn new ones. If you would like a
private visit to explore Stuart Lodge, hear about the work
done and meet Staff, form a group of 8+ people and visit
on a date convenient to you. Phone or email to express
your interest. We look forward to meeting you all at Stuart

Major Incident Response Training:
Raising awareness of the WI’s role in the event of a major incident
Has your WI signed up to take part in a major incident or are you interested? Then come along and
find out more from the experts at MKC and BCC. It is better to be prepared!
Objectives:
Understand the roles and responsibilities of the emergency services and other organisations;
Understand where the WI fits in;
Understand how reception centres function;
See if the WI plan can be put in place
Pick a date and venue to suit you from the list below and note the allocation dates vary as some sessions are later in the

members was a magnificent £21,000. Thank you so much!
The overall total nationally was over £652,000.

BFWI celebrating 100 years in 2020

If YOU or YOUR WI are interested in taking part in an ARTS & DRAMA FESTIVAL then please get in touch

Already some of you have made a start on your Pennants and collecting tales and interesting facts, taking photos and even
painting landscapes from around your villages and local areas for our Buckinghamshire Village Book
Entry deadline FRIDAY, 30 NOVEMBER 2018.
The Centenary tablecloth is well underway with our team of very talented needle/craftswomen.
So why not give some thought as to how you are going to dress your Scarecrow for the Village
Scarecrow trail culminating at the Waddesdon Centenary Party on the Green with them all
on display.
2020, you may think it is a while off yet but, with so much for you to take part in,
we want to have plenty of time to plan….
