PSA OUTLINE

INTRODUCTION:
Connects your reader to the topic and focus of your research paper.
Begins with an attention-getting device—anecdote, shocking statistics, facts, examples

Include necessary background information on your topic

Transition from introduction to thesis/claim is logical and smooth

Claim is explicit and logical. It identifies the topic of, and reason for, research and the focus of your paper

Think BROAD to FOCUS (reverse triangle)

BODY SECTIONS - BE SURE TO DIVIDE INTO SEPARATE SECTIONS (all similar in structure)
Builds and supports your claim about the specific social injustice with evidence. Each body paragraph should have a main idea that presents
important information about your topic and should include evidence that supports that main idea. Your paragraphs should have transitions from
one to the other. Think TIQA when adding in information and quotes to support.
Each body paragraph begins with an intriguing topic sentence that supports the thesis statement

Contains a variety of evidence that supports topic sentence (specific details, facts, opinions, anecdotes)

Each paragraph includes quotes/reference/facts/evidence that are properly introduced and analyzed

Quotes are elaborated upon and provide support for your idea

Quotes complement and do not dominate the paragraph.

Transition words and phrases are used between thoughts and paragraphs

Can think about your topic and event or crisis in focus. How does this affects the community, those victims, and/or why consciousness should be
raised or what can be done…

Conclusion begins with restated thesis (must be written in different words)

Includes a brief summary that proves that YOU PROVED your claim

Appeals to the reader with a call to action or a solution to the social injustice
